I have been a platform professional for more than 20 years. I have spent a lot of time and effort developing a brand and creating a niche. It has been a struggle.
Until recently. I had the privilege of being coached by Lisa Bloom at 4:45 am last week. Not sure if it was the insight of the coaching, or the starkness of the hour, but she asked me a couple of tough questions; questions that helped me realize that I don’t want a brand. I don’t want to niche.
I just want to be me and if I can be of service, then so much the better.
I specialize in understanding people and helping them cope with life. I can do that a number of ways. I can coach, present, or perform.
I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit. I believe that who we are matters; that we are more than our circumstances; that we always have a choice; and that our choices have consequences.
I absolutely believe in the power of stories: the ones we tell ourselves that we use to build ourselves up and the ones we use to tear ourselves down. There are stories that we tell each other, stories we believe collectively and stories that we never question.
I am returning to my passion – the narrative. I want to write, share, and perform those powerful things that join us together in our human experience. I want to hear your stories. I want to share mine. I want to offer back what I have learned.
I want to be just me. And I want you to know that ‘just you’ is enough.
